Along with the local association, there is also the state association and the national association. Both offer different and expanding opportunities for student and teacher participation. The Maryland State Music Teachers Association (with over 700 teachers in fourteen statewide local associations) sponsors several events that are outlined in the Maryland State Student Activities Handbook. Every member should receive a copy upon joining the association. As a member of the national association, each teacher also receives a copy of the bimonthly edition of The American Music Teacher.
